Philosophy

laura chenoweth organic apparel is a Canadian designed clothing label that aims to make the simple act of getting dressed –enjoyable.

In 2008, Laura Chenoweth, Halifax-based clothing designer launched a stylish, ethical and affordable label to provide well-made clothing for women who are equally conscious about fashion as they are about the environment.

Laura designs her clothing patterns with a local seamstress in Halifax, with each garment being handcrafted by a small group of skilled tailors in Rajasthan, India.

All clothing is made with GOTS certified organic cotton grown in India (Global Organic Textile Standard) and non-toxic dyes.

Chenoweth travels to India each year working on the finer details of print designs, dye sampling, quality issues and organic cotton.

Today, conscious consumers need to know more about the lifecycles of where, what and how their clothing is made.

Wholesome manufacturing plays an important role alongside of consumer responsibility of demanding more information about how clothing is produced and what it costs our environment.

Chenoweth encourages consumers and local designers to work closely together as a viable alternative for achieving sustainability in the fashion industry.
